First Girl Loco Pilot In Chennai Metro

Soon after Chief Minster J. Jayalalithaa flagged off the first train for Chennai Metro Rail on Monday, the first train was driven by R. Preethi a young woman of 28 years old who is a diploma graduate in engineering.
The Chief Minister inaugurated it by flagging it off via live video from the State Secretariat in Chennai.

Mr. R Anbu father of this young loco pilot says : “I am very much excited to see my daughters dream coming true”
He also tells with pride about his daughter who has reached her ambition by breaking the huddles. She has left her previous job and applied for the job at Chennai Metro Rail. She made her mark by being the first girl to be selected for the Loco pilot. Later three other woman also joined the chain.

Preethi was trained for one and a half year formally like the rest in Chennai and Delhi.
During this period Alandur metro station which is the biggest in Chennai, was rising with activity, and the enthusiastic passengers eager to witness the first ride of the first train.
Another young executive K Ramesh expressed: “I wanted to board the first metro train, I hope the metro make the passenger’s with pleasure ”
