Narendra Modi calls conversation with Trump as ‘warm’

The US President Donald Trump and the Indian PM Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation on Tuesday night. The PM tweeted today that this conversation was warm and he invited the President to India and Mr. Trump in turn returned that courtsey.

In the morning the PM tweeted, “Had a warm conversation with President Donald Trump late last evening. President Trump and I agreed to work closely in the coming days to further strengthen our bilateral ties. Have also invited President Trump to visit India.”

The US President called PM Modi four days after he was sworn in as the 45th US President. Though it has only been five days since his rule, this is the fifth call the president made aftero Russia, China, Britan and Japan which underscores the importance of India in the United States foreign policy. The White House late on Tuesday night said that the two dynamic leaders discussed various issues ranging from trade to terrorism.

In a call summary, the White House said, “They also discussed security in the region of South and Central Asia. President Trump and Prime Minister Modi resolved that the US and India stand shoulder to shoulder in the global fight against terrorism.” According to the White House read out, Trump also emphasized that the USA considers India a ‘true friend and partner in addressing the world challenges (sic)’.

Also, Trump apparently praised the PM as a very energetic leader with whom he is looking forward to work. The President also said that the two countries will have a bright future ahead together.
