One of the seven wonders of the modern world, the Taj Mahal is all set to reopen for night viewing from the 21st of August.

The reopening of the historic Indian monument during night hours came in the wake of the full moon night, on Saturday.

The decision was taken after the Uttar Pradesh Government announced relaxation from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. In addition, the concerned authorities, handling the Novel Coronavirus situation, released a set of guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to follow after the reopening of the monument.

The Taj Mahal would remain open for night viewing only till the 24th of August, during the full moon days.

The beauty of the historic monument made by the Mughal King Shah Jahan is a major tourist attraction in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, especially during full moon nights. The Taj Mahal is one of the major international tourist attractions in India. Every year, the 17th century monument of love attracts nearly 7 million tourists, mostly international. However, due to the Wuhan virus pandemic, the monument was shut for night viewing since the 2020 lockdown. Recently, on the 16th of June, the Agra Tourism authorities reopened the monument for domestic visitors, that too during a limited duration in the day time.

Meanwhile, the three slots timing to visit the Taj Mahal during night hours are: 8:30 P.M., to 9:00 P.M., next batch 9:00 P.M., to 9:30 P.M., and the last one is 9:30 P.M., to 10:00 P.M.

In addition, an individual can only book 5 tickets using one phone number. No one would be allowed on the premises of the Taj Mahal without a face mask. At a time not more than 50 people would be allowed inside the Taj Mahal at a given time and teams would be deputed to monitor the crowd size at all times.

In addition, people willing to book offline tickets need to visit 22 Mall Road, Agra and book tickets from the counter of the ASI office, a day prior.
