Two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs were denied entry into Canada on Sunday. The two MLAs were sent back shortly after landing the the Country on a private visit.
The Canadian immigration officials detained Kotkapura MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Ropar MLA Amarjit Singh Sandoa for questioning.
AAP Spokesperson in Toronto Sudeep Singla reported, “What we have learnt is that both were to stay with the sister of Kultar Singh Sandhwan in Ottawa and she was waiting to receive them. However, after hours of questioning, she was informed that both were being sent back.”
The reason why the two MLAs were put on an Air Canada flight back to Delhi is still unknown. MLA Sandoa was recently in the news as he faces molestation charges just a day before he left for Canada.
The other AAP MLA does not have any criminal cases pending. However, the Congress Government in Punjab has accused AAP of having a close relationship with separatist Sikh outfits overseas, mostly Khalistani.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau received flak from the Indian media when he was photographed with an ex Khalistani terrorist. India was enraged by the fact Khalistani terrorist Jaspal Atwal was invited to events for the Canadian Prime Minister. Justin Trudeau assured his invitation was canceled and stated action would be taken against the person who invited Atwal.
Trudeau said, “We take this very seriously. The individual in question should have never received an invitation. The person and department responsible will take full responsibility for his actions.”
Social media blew up when pictures of PM Trudeau and Jaspal emerged. The pictures were taken at one of the events the Canadian PM attended in Mumbai.
This mistake caused a huge embarrassment to the Canadian Government. However, the Canadian PM was unaware of Jaspal’s dark past.
