In a turn of events, a woman, Lidiya of Bengaluru threw acid on her boyfriend Jaya Kumar’s face on Saturday in the Vijayanagar area. The incident happened at around 8:30 P.M., and the reason according to the police is because she was upset about the breakup. The woman has been placed in the custody of the police until the next hearing this week.
The Police officer handling the case said, “The victim, Jaya kumar told the media that Lidiya attacked him for refusing to convert to Christianity, whereas Lidiya is saying that she was upset because he broke off the relationship, and it was not about any religious conversion.” The woman also apparently tried to slash the guy’s throat with a surgical knife.
The victim sustained severe burns on his face and chest and also deep cuts on his face because of a stabbing. He has been admitted to the Bengaluru City hospital and is under observation. Lidiya followed Jaya Kumar and his brother from the temple and threw acid on his face, who despite burning followed her and caught up with her, where she attacked him again. She has been booked for attempt to murder under Indian Penal Code 307.
The woman took this drastic step after she proposed to Jaya Kumar for marriage who rejected her on the basis of a difference in religions.
