K.T. Rama Rao, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development and the Information Technology, Electronics and Communications Minister of Telangana, criticised the Central Government.

On the 4th of December, Mr. Rao said the Union Government is being partial and neglecting Telangana by not sanctioning funds for the growth and development of the State.

KTR highlighted some points and said the Central Government gave preference to Nagpur over Hyderabad and many projects were turned down or not reviewed.

During a business conference, Mr. Rao said the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) made several attempts to speak to the Central Government about the development, but they were in vain.

Mr. Rao also said the Government of India (GoI) is not giving priority to the South Indian states and neglecting all the proposals for their development.

Disappointed with the treatment of the GoI, KTR said Telangana is one of the fastest growing states in India, but the industrial development projects in the State are still not being given attention.

However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) denied the allegations of the TRS and KTR and said the Centre released an adequate amount of funds and gave equal importance to all the states.

K. Laxman, the President of the BJP in Telangana, even challenged KTR for a debate about the funds released and the proposals meant for the growth of the State.

This is not the first time the TRS alleged the BJP of neglecting Telangana in terms of growth and development.

Previously, KTR and K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, both accused the GoI of not paying attention to the State.

Telangana is one of the fastest growing states in India.  The State stood 4th in the list of 2018-2019 states’ growth list.  The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of Telangana was estimated at ₹ 8.65 lakh crores in 2018-2019, which was released in September 2019.

Stay tuned for further updates.
