Once again, the number of single day Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases exceeded 20,000 in India.
On the 16th of March, the Union Health Ministry, released data updating 24,492 new cases. In addition to the new cases, India reported 131 deaths and 20,191 recoveries in the past 24 hours.
This is the 6th consecutive day, India reported more than 20,000 cases.
As per the Union Health Ministry, India has 11,409,831 positive cases, of which 1,58,856 died, 2,23,432 are active cases and 11,027,543 are recovered/discharged cases. The updated data has been shared on the official website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)
The updated data was shared at 8:00 A.M., on the 16th of March. The COVID-19 active cases comprises 1.93% and recovery rate is at 96.64 %.
In addition, recently warned surge in COVID-19 cases are from only a few Indian states. Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Gujarat are some of the states which contribute to nearly 78.41% of COVID-19 cases. Of the total, Maharashtra alone accounts for 63.21% of the cases. Besides the aforementioned five states, COVID-19 rise in daily cases were also reported from Madhya Pradesh,Delhi and Haryana.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 vaccination drive administered doses to nearly 3.17 crores.
As per the Coronavirus vaccination drive, till Monday (the 15th of March) the drives gave COVID-19 vaccination doses to 3,17,71,661.
The vaccination drive which started on the 16th of January, would continue until every citizen of India.
