Revanth Reddy Plans Podcars to Ease Hyderabad Traffic

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asked officials to explore podcars as a new public transport option for Hyderabad’s busy areas.

Podcars are small vehicles that run on elevated tracks and carry three to six passengers. The proposed system could connect residential and industrial areas with Metro Rail, MMTS and bus stations.

During a review meeting on Hyderabad Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) projects, the Chief Minister asked officials to identify suitable routes, especially in areas with heavy passenger movement.

He also directed officials to speed up flyover and underpass projects to improve road connectivity. Special attention was given to the flyover planned from Nagarjuna Circle towards Jubilee Hills Check Post. He asked officials to study construction methods used in Mumbai and aim to complete projects within a year of starting work.

The Chief Minister also reviewed plans to use 500 million litres of recycled water per day for industries, data centres, parks and other needs.

Officials were asked to work together to improve transport and infrastructure across the Hyderabad region.
