Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Links Fine Rice Price Rise to El Niño

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has linked the rise in fine rice prices to El Niño, saying the price has reached ₹95 per kg. He defended the State government’s decision to promote fine rice cultivation.

Speaking at the birth anniversary celebrations of Panduga Sayyanna, CM Revanth Reddy said the government was distributing fine rice to nearly 3.48 crore people across the State.

He also highlighted the government’s support for farmers. He said the Rythu Bharosa scheme provides ₹12,000 per acre, compared with ₹10,000 per acre under the previous government’s Rythu Bandhu scheme.

The Chief Minister also announced plans to form a Cabinet sub-committee to study the Mudiraj community’s request for inclusion in the BC-A category.

He said a lack of accurate data had delayed the change from the BC-D category. The issue will be discussed at the next Cabinet meeting, he added.
