Andhra Pradesh’s urban local body elections have drawn attention to the political mood across the state. The results offer a fresh picture of how voters have backed different parties in local areas.
The TDP led NDA alliance, which includes the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena Party and BJP, recorded major victories in several urban local bodies on November 3.
The alliance won all 32 wards in Kuppam and all 36 wards in Macherla. In Macherla, TDP won 32 wards, Jana Sena secured three and BJP won one.
The alliance also secured majorities in Yemmiganur, Narasapuram and Palasa-Kasibugga.
In the municipal corporation contests, TDP candidates won or led in several key cities. Jana Sena also made gains in Vijayawada and Eluru.
However, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) secured a win in Nandikotkur municipality.
The results mark a strong performance for the ruling alliance in Andhra Pradesh’s local body elections.
