The Telangana Government recently appointed a Cabinet Subcommittee for the State Medical services in the wake of the Wuhan virus pandemic.
The decision to form the subcommittee was taken to strengthen the medical infrastructure in Telangana. While forming the committee, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, said, “We have all been witnessing the devastating situation of healthcare in the State due to the Covid pandemic. The present situation has exposed how vulnerable our healthcare infrastructure is. However, we tried to provide the best facilities and services to the infected patients. Still we could not reach up to their expectation because of inadequate infrastructure, lack of staff and unreliable and unaccountable systems that we are having. It is high time we give the highest priority to healthcare and make it more robust, reliable and accountable. In view of this we have decided to come up with a comprehensive action plan and constituted a cabinet subcommittee, which will conduct a thorough study of best practices being followed in other states and neighboring countries.”
According to sources, the members of the subcommittee would tour different states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala and would study the best medical facilities in the country to practice the same in Telangana.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) formed subcommittee would conduct a meeting and discuss the medical services in the State. The meeting is scheduled on the 17th of June, at Pragati Bhavan.
Chaired by T. Harish Rao, the Finance Minister of Telangana, the meeting would focus on issues of hospitals, especially those treating the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) patients. During the meeting, research on the best medical services and medical services infrastructure in other countries and states, which needs to be in Telangana government hospitals would also be discussed. Inclusion of advanced medical equipment and enhancing medical facilities would also be one of the major topics of today’s meeting.
Though, K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana has the Health Ministry portfolio, T. Harish Rao has been given the duty to manage the subcommittee formed for medical department improvement. Along with T. Harish Rao, K.T. Rama Rao, the Information Technology Minister of Telangana has also been given major responsibilities of the newly formed subcommittee. Besides T.
