West Bengal is the first State to ban the recently released The Kerala Story, citing security and maintenance of peace.

Ms. Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, issued an order and banned the screening of Adah Sharma starrer The Kerala Story.  In this regard, an official order was issued which read, “To avoid any hatred and violence incident and maintain peace in the state, the CM has directed an immediate ban on screening of The Kerala Story.  Action will be taken against any cinema hall that violates the ban.”

Earlier, Ms. Mamata Banerjee condemned the film and said, “I do not support CPM people. They are working with the BJP. They needed to be criticized first. I am telling the Kerala government it is unfortunate. Your party is working with the BJP.”  She further added, “What is ‘The Kashmir Files?’  it is to humiliate one section.  What is ‘The Kerala Story?’… It is a distorted story.”

Meanwhile, disturbed with the decision of the West Bengal Government, the makers of the film Mr. Sudipto Sen and producer Vipul Shah said they would take a legal action against the decision of Ms. Mamata Banerjee.
