In yet another tragic case of violence, a car bomb exploded in Lashkar Gah the capital of Helmand. The bomb blasted outside a bank killing 26 people and dozens wounded.
Omar Zwak the spokesperson for the provincial governor gave a statement that mentioned 50 people were wounded in the bomb blast. Among the 50 were a few policemen, army members, civilians, and staff of the New Kabul Bank.
The blast happened at around 12 P.M. this afternoon (08:00GMT). There were civilians and security forces waiting at the bank for their payments.
The impact of the blast was huge overturning vehicles and leaving the area covered with charred debris. A huge cloud of smoke engulfed the sky after the blast.
Omar Zwak reported, “ Civilians and military are among the wounded.” He also added, “ This private bank has been targeted before. It does handle salary payments for security forces. Because it has been targeted before, it does have very tight security. But there’s only so much you can do with a car bomb outside.”
The incident comes after three people were killed and many injured in the eastern city of Gardez when a bank was attacked.
