5.1 magnitude earthquake hits Islamabad

Islamabad (Pakistan): An earthquake with magnitude 5.1 jolted the Islamabad city of Pakistan on Saturday. So far, no reports of injuries or damage have been registered. The quake hit at 1:59 am local time (2059 GMT) and shook the vehicles and buildings in the city. According to reports, the tremors shook the Pakistan cities in the provinces of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ghulam Rasul and eastern Punjab.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake on Saturday rocked the outside Islamabad. The quake with an epicentre located 15 kilometres to the northwest of Islamabad and hit at a relatively shallow depth of 26 kilometres. The quake created panic among the people. The people rushed out of their homes in panic.
