Donald Trump, the President of the United States of America (U.S.A.,) suggested being a mediator to solve the long standing dispute of Kashmir between Pakistan and India.

Donald Trump, on the 20th of August, addressed the media and said, “I will be with Prime Minister Modi I’ll be with him over the weekend in France. I think we are helping (resolve the tense) situation (between India and Pakistan.)”

The proposal to be the mediator came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Trump over a phone call.  Trump said, “Frankly, it’s a very explosive situation. I spoke to Prime Minister Khan yesterday also with Prime Minister Modi. They’re both friends of mine. They’re great people. They’re great people, and they love their country.”

It is expected Donald Trump will bring up the matter during the G7 Summit.

The G7 (Group of Seven) Summit is a two day summit, which will begin from the 24th of August and will continue till the 26th of August in Biarritz, France.  The countries participating in the Summit are the U.S.A., France, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom (U.K.,) whereas the guest invitees are Australia, India and Spain.  During the Summit, the representatives of all the countries will discuss bilateral issues and global security.

According to sources, Trump will highlight the Jammu and Kashmir issue and will speak about being the third party between Pakistan and India to resolve the matter.

However, India refused the proposal and said the Jammu and Kashmir is an internal matter and the Government of India does not want the involvement of the international community.

Despite the refusal, Trump addressed the media and said, “I will do the best I can to meditate or do something. (I have) great relationship with both of them, but they (India and Pakistan) are not exactly friends at this moment.”

While India refused any third party’s involvement, Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, approached the U.S.A., and the United Nations and asked for their intervention in the matter.

This is not the first time Trump tried to intervene in the Jammu and Kashmir matter.  He approached India and Pakistan earlier as well to let him be a mediator in resolving the issue.

Stay tuned for further updates.
