Amaravathi: Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the national president of TDP and former chief minister, voiced suspicions of foul play orchestrated by the ruling YSRCP behind the failure to deliver old-age pensions directly to beneficiaries’ doorsteps. Accusing Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy of deceiving the elderly populace by labeling them as grandparents, Chandrababu Naidu alleged that Jagan is diverting pension funds to his own contractors.
Speaking to TDP activists via teleconference, Chandrababu Naidu refuted Jagan’s claims that TDP is obstructing pension distribution for political gain, labeling such assertions as baseless. He criticized Jagan’s administration for squandering Rs 13,000 crore within a mere 15 days, neglecting the opportunity to efficiently distribute pensions through village secretariat employees.
Asserting confidence in the burgeoning support for the NDA, Chandrababu Naidu attributed the widespread discontent to Jagan’s governance, evident in the mounting protests across the state. He urged TDP activists to disseminate clarifications about YSRCP’s alleged pension distribution malpractices and reassure pensioners of the promised monthly pension of Rs 4,000 upon TDP’s return to power.
Chandrababu Naidu demanded transparency in the government’s expenditure over the past 15 days and implored the Election Commission to ensure immediate pension distribution through directives to district officials.
