Hyderabad’s weather is at its peak with the city experiencing the coldest day of this season. The temperature dropped to 12.5 degree Celsius.
The Indian Meteorological Department issued a statement that read, “Dry weather very likely to prevail over Telangana. Minimum temperatures likely to be below normal by 3 to 4 degree Celsius at isolated places over Telangana.”
It further said, “A low pressure area is likely to develop over South Andaman sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal, around December 25.”
The IMD Officials explained the sudden drop in temperature is due to a change in the wind pattern. They explained the city was receiving sea winds that are cold and dry from the North.
IMD Head of Forecasting from Hyderabad Dr. K Naga Ratna explained, “Currently, the State is experiencing cold conditions and it would continue for the next two days. People should be ready to brave the cold. The temperature in the city on Tuesday is record-breaking as it is the coldest this year. For the next 48-72 hours the temperatures would continue to drop.”
Last year, Hyderabad recorded its coldest on the 22nd of December with 10.9 degree Celsius. Officials are expecting the temperature to drop further than last year. Adilabad experienced their coldest ever with 3.8 degree Celsius on Tuesday. Back in 2014, the temperature in Adilabad dropped to 3.9 degree Celsius.
