On Saturday afternoon, a massive landslide at the Chandigarh Shimla National Highway covered around six to seven vehicles under the rubble. The landslide even buried a part of a temple that was nearby.
So far, there have been no reports of casualties as the vehicles were parked at the side of the road. On Friday, the area experienced heavy rains that triggered off the landslide.
About 15 minutes before the landslide came crashing down a few boulders fell warning the people around who quickly moved away.
The police reached the site and vacated the road and directed the traffic towards Sanjauli. Vipul Sharma had his car parked near the temple when the incident occurred, he said, “I got a call from my friend about the landslide. There were more vehicles parked on the other side of the road.”
DSP Rajinder Singh said that necessary measures are being taken and he added, We have rescued three people.”
