One thing that remains the same for every woman this year is the threat to their safety. Why is it that women cannot express themselves the way they want? Why can’t they wear what they want?
Men in our society tend to characterize a woman based on the clothes she wears, the way she talks and the drinks she orders at the bar. While men have adopted a Western culture of wearing pants and shirts, a woman, on the other hand, is considered “characterless” because she’s seen wearing a skirt and skinny jeans. Aah!! Maybe the men of our society are too concerned for the safety of women and that’s why they are caught harassing the woman on the streets!
A recent incident took place on the streets of Bangalore’s MG road this New Year, where women were molested and assaulted by men. But wait a second! Do you know what Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara had to say about the incident? He said, “Such incidents do happen on New Year’s eve.” Can you believe that? The Home Minister also blamed women for “copying the west” in how they dress.
G. Parameshwara feels that it is women who are responsible for this malicious misbehavior of the men in question because they were wearing shorts skirts and were seen drinking and dancing openly. It is because of leaders like him that set an example to the men of our Country and encourage their pernicious behavior, rather than taking strict actions against the offending molesters– that we see such incidents on the rise.
According to such Sanskari, the main root of the cause are the women who wear appealing attire are considered as “inviting” and “immoral.” All the ladies out there, you need to understand that while the man can adopt western culture like drinking at the bar wearing western attire, you cannot do so because you are still considered a level under the “mightiest” men. So learn from the “gyan” that G. Parameshwara has given to all of you and also don’t forget the fact that you are a “Bharti Nari.”
