Magic, adventure and Crime to be part of ICSE syllabus.

It has always been a dream of every English Literature fanatic for their favorite books to be a part of their educational curriculum. Now that dream can be a reality as The Council of School Certificate Examination(CISCE) has decided to induce some mystery, some drama and some crime and mystery into their syllabus. English Literature classes in ICSE schools will never be the same again! The CISCE have prescribed some of the most popular books of our times, for junior and middle school students while preparing a uniform syllabus for schools to follow from the academic session 2017-2018.

They have also included Amar Chitra Katha, Tintin, Asterix, Maus and much more from Class III to Class VIII. This would be a refreshing change as students need not be any more scared of their comics being snatched by their teachers. Apart from the magical world of Harry Potter, students will also get to dwell in some crime and mystery with Sherlock Holmes and his loyal companion Dr. John Watson. Youngsters can nowgo off on an adventure with Bilbo Baggins and the Dwarves of The Hobbit, and take a journey to Mount Doom with Frodo Baggins and his nine companions of The Lord of The Rings. For the classics lovers, they have a dash of Charles Dickens.

There are also autobiographies of Anne Frank, Malala Yousafzai, and our very own Missile Man A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Classes I and II will be entertained by Noddy and many other illustrious characters. ICSE are very excited to introduce these into their curriculum and in the case where the schools could not implement they will get an extension of one year to implement the changes.
So now is the time that wishes of many across India were granted. And the younger generation can put their extensive knowledge to a good use by excelling in English Literature!
