Murthal gangrape: Eyewitness says, women were stripped, dragged into fields

New Delhi: The eyewitness of the alleged gangrape of women during the agitation of Jat reservation on the National Highway No.1 said that a group of youngsters, who came on motorcycles, assaulted the women and then dragged them into the fields.

The eyewitness said, “Some protestors, around the age group of 20-26 years, were seen moving around in two-wheelers. I saw them waylaying women and ripping off their clothes, and dragging them into fields.”

He added, “The women walking on road were advised by protestors to take the village road to escape attack and then they were robbed and raped in the fields.”

The eyewitness also stated that he can identify the culprits if they are brought forward. He added that they even set fire to his truck and other vehicles when he was struck in the road jam at around 2 pm.

On Saturday, women police officers team led by DIG Dr Rajshree Singh and two women DSPs, Bharti Dabas and Surinder Kaur, visited the crime site to gather first hand information. When asked about the recovery of clothes at Murthal, she said, “These had been sent to Forensic Science Laboratory for examination and let us see, what comes out.”

“We appeal to all citizens who have any clue to forward. They should meet us and tell us whatever they have seen, they should share with us all details and we will try to bring out the truth. We are visiting the scene of crime and meeting people,” she said.
