Mr. Manikrao Thakre, a senior leader of the Indian National Congress (INC) from Maharashtra, took over as the In Charge of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in Telangana.
Mr. Manikrao Thakre replaced Mr. Manickam Tagore, the former AICC In Charge of the Telugu State of Telangana. Mr. Mallikarjun Khagre, the President of the Indian National Congress, announced the reshuffle amid the ongoing tussle between leaders of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Party (TPCC.) It is to be noted, many senior leaders of the INC in Telangana were unhappy with Mr. A. Revanth Reddy, the President of the TPCC and Mr. Manickam Tagore. The leaders alleged that Mr. Manickam Tagore, who is believed to be close to Mr. Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the INC is supporting Mr. A. Revanth Reddy unilateral decisions and is baised towards other leaders of the TPCC. Sensing the revolt of the TPCC leaders and fearing that they might form an alliance with the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS,) the INC President took this decision.
Considering the disturbance amongst party leaders, Mr. Mallikarjun Khagre decided to remove Mr. Manickam Tagore as the AICC In Charge of Telangana and appoint Mr. Manikrao Thakre.
Highlighting the political journey of Mr. Manikrao Thakre with the INC, he is a leader from Maharashtra Congress and four time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA.) He has also won elections and served as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) twice in Maharashtra. Furthermore, during the regime of the INC in Maharashtra, Mr. Manikrao Thakre also served as a minister in charge of key portfolios like Home, Energy and Agriculture.
Meanwhile, speaking of Mr. Manickam Tagore, the INC President shifted him as the AICC In Charge of Goa, replacing Mr. Dinesh Gundu Rao, who was the AICC In Charge of Goa, Pondicherry and Tamil Nadu. However, now with the appointment of Mr. Manickam Tagore as the AICC In Charge of Goa, Mr. Dinesh Gundu Rao would continue as the AICC In Charge of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
