Nine killed in Philippines storm

Manila: At least nine people were killed in central Philippines due to a powerful storm. The disaster drove many others to fled the place. The typhoon struck the eastern Philippines on Monday and started to move out into the South China Sea late on Tuesday.

The officials ordered the evacuation of nearly 720,000 people in the Bicol region and many passengers have been stranded in airports due to the Typhoon Melor. In other words, the typhoon hit the normal life of people in Manila. It also disrupted the train services and flood waters blocked the road ways.

The typhoon with winds at its centre of 130 kph (80 mph) and was about 150 km (95 miles) northwest of Mindoro island. According to forecaster Accuweather, another storm is expected to hit the southern Philippines later this week.
