The Indian National Congress (INC) leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra supported protesting farmers in Delhi.

Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the Indian Congress (INC,) and All India Congress Committee (AICC) in charge Priyanka Gandhi said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government is helping capitalists with new farm laws.

Rahul Gandhi said, “PM Modi is making money for the crony capitalists.”

Mr. Gandhi further said, “PM Modi is making money for the crony capitalists. Whoever will try to stand against him will be called terrorist – be it farmers, labourers and even Mohan Bhagwat.”

Rahul Gandhi who is extending support to farmers said, the farmers would not go back down and would continue until the Central Government assured to repeal the bills.

In regard to this, the farmers union conducted a meeting on the 23rd of December.

Nearly 100 farm leaders decided to continue their protests until the Government repeals the contentious farm laws.

Mr. Gandhi said, “I want to tell the PM that these farmers are not going to go back home until these farm laws are repealed. Govt should convene a joint session of Parliament and take back these laws. Opposition parties stand with farmers and labourers.”

Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who was heading to Rashtrapati Marg were stopped and taken to Mandir Marg Police Station.

Ms. Gandhi said, “It is a sin to use the kind of names they (BJP leaders and supporters) used for farmers. If the Government is calling them anti-nationals, then the government is a sinner.” She further said, “We’re living in democracy and they are elected MPs. They have the right to meet the President and they should be allowed. What is (the) problem with that? Government is not ready to listen to voices of lakhs of farmers camping at borders.”

The Delhi police detained several INC leaders who were heading to Rashtrapati Bhavan to meet Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India.

The leaders were having a memorandum containing 2 crore signatures of leaders seeking his intervention in farm laws issue.

Delhi Police took Priyanka Gandhi and other INC Congress leaders into custody.

Responding to arrests, Ms. Gandhi said, “Any dissent against this govt is classified as having elements of terror. We are undertaking this march to voice our support for the farmers.”

The farmers of Haryana and Punjab entered the 29th day of protest today, the 24th of December.
