After the orders of the Supreme Court (SC,) the lawyer of the 19 year old Unnao rape case survivor was airlifted to the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Delhi.

Kaushal Raj Sharma, the District Magistrate, said, “The lawyer was sent to New Delhi special air ambulance. He has left the King George’s Medical University (KGMU), where he was undergoing treatment to airport from where he will be taken to New Delhi for better treatment.”

On the other hand, the girl was shifted to Delhi on the 5th of August.  Both the lawyer and the victim are undergoing treatment at the AIIMS, Delhi.

On the 28th of July, the girl and her lawyer sustained serious injuries in a car accident.  The accident took place in Raebareli, when the girl, her lawyer and the girl’s two aunts were travelling to Raebareli in a car, which rammed into a truck.  Although the Lucknow Police deemed it an accident, the mother of the girl alleged Kuldeep Singh Sengar of causing the incident and said his people planned it.

In 2017, Kuldeep Singh Sengar, a lawmaker of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) allegedly raped the girl when she was a 15 year old minor, at his residence in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh.

The girl survived the incident and filed a complaint against the lawmaker, following which, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probed the case and found Kuldeep guilty.

In 2018, Kuldeep was sentenced to imprisonment and is serving a jail term for the same.  The case was running in the Lucknow Court, but later, the SC ordered to transfer the case to a Delhi Court.

Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi also ordered the CBI to complete the investigation of the accident and file the chargesheet within a fortnight.

The CBI charged 10 people, including Sengar, in the accident case and an investigation is still going on.

Stay tuned for further updates.
