Medaram Jatara to begin today

Warangal: Four days long Medaram Sammakka, Saralamma Jathara is set to begin on Wednesday. Telangana state government made intense arrangements for the largest Tribal fest in which around 1.5 crore devotees are expected.

Medaram Jatara is often termed as Maha Kumba Mela of South India. Telangana government spent Rs 110 crores for the arrangements of the fest. Smmaka’s son Jampana was brought to the Gadde by the tribals on Tuesday.

Tribals play a key role in the fest and president of India Drowpadi Murmu is scheduled to attend the fest on February 24. CHief minister A Reventh Reddy will also attend the fest same day.

Around 14 thousand police forces were deployed at Medaram and 700 CCTV cameras were installed to monitor the security. Revenue authorities arranged parking facilities for around 10 lakh vehicles. Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is specially operating 6000 festive special buses from various parts of the state.
