The Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) of Hyderabad started the phase-III human clinical trials for COVAXIN.
The trials begin from the 16th of November.
A medical team at NIMS said the vaccine would be given for 600 volunteers in the phase-III and they would be monitored closely.
The phase I and the phase II of the COVAXIN vaccine trials were successful.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is planning to bring the vaccine by February 2020.
The vaccine is being jointly developed by Bharat Biotech Private Limited and the ICMR.
The ICMR selected 12 medical institutions for the three phased trials of the potential candidate vaccine for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
The NIMS of Hyderabad is one of the 12 medical Institutes and started the first phase of the trial on the 20th of July 2020.
