Imphal: June 4, A dark day for Indian Army. At least 20 soldiers were killed and 11 others injured in a cowardly ambush attack by the militants.
Going into the details, an army convoy was ambushed by the militants on Thursday in Manipur. Officials are stating it to as the worst such attack on the Indian Army in a decade.
A team of 6 Dogra Regiment was on a routine road opening patrol in the morning in Chandel district when the attack occurred between Paralong and Charong villages. An army spokesman said the militants first fired rocket-propelled grenades at the four-vehicle convoy on its way to Imphal from Chandel.
According to inside sources, the bodies of the deceased were mostly charred and the injured were suffering with severe third degree burns. Further details are yet to be known.
