Senior Congress leader Danam Nagender resigned the National party of Friday. It was a huge blow to the already sulking Telangana Congress when Nagender submitted his resignation. Party President Rahul Gandhi and PCC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy received Nagender’s resignation.
There are speculations that Danam will join the ruling Telangana Rashtriya Party (TRS) tomorrow. Danam was disappointed with the Congress party for not considering him for the party chief’s post in Hyderabad. Since then Danam has been sending subtle hints about joining TRS. The idea of Danam joining TRS comes after he visited KCR a while back.
This is not the first time Danam is speculated to join the TRS. Back in 2015 Danam confirmed he received an invitation to join TRS but rejected the offer. Danam then stated his loyalty always lies with Congress.
In 1994, Danam was first elected to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly. He went on to win the same position in 1999, 2004 and 2009. Sadly in 2014 Daman suffered a huge defeat in the hands of the BJP leader Ramachandra Reddy.
Since 2014, Danam has stirred clear of the party’s affairs in Hyderabad. He even refused to campaign for the Congress in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections.
