Scientific tests on the urine of indigenous cows will soon be tested by the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI,) to check whether cow urine is beneficial to humans. In the oldest religion of the world, Hinduism, the cow is thought to be sacred.
Recently, much to our surprise, scientists at the Junagadh Agricultural University (JAU), found traces of gold ranging from three mg to 10 mg from one litre of urine samples of 400 Gir cows.
B.A. Golakia, head of the biotechnology department at JAU, said that, 388 compounds found in the urine of cows have immense medicinal value that can cure several diseases. Cancer, being the deadliest of all can also be cured as the cow urine is considered to posses medicinal properties.
Sudarshan Bhagat, the minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare said that people should be educated about the benefits of cow urine so they don’t abandon their cows once it stops producing milk.
Also, ever since the Modi government came to power various schemes to protect cows have also been initiated.’Rashritya Gokul Mission’, a project that aims to promote locally bred cows that are better suited for the Indian climate. This scheme also aims to maintain cows after they have passed their milk producing stage.
In fact, Ram Dev Baba’s best selling products also have cow urine as the one of the ingredients as it has medicinal value.
Somwir Singh, project incharge of NICRA said, several people are talking about it these days and a review is going on in NDRI. He also commented that “No doubt the milk of our cows is better than those of other breeds, but we did not work on urine. Lets see what comes out!
