Eleven states and one union territory are conducting the 2nd phase of the Lok Sabha elections on the 18th of April across India.
The states and union territory will contest a total of 95 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. The elections began at 7:00 A.M. and will continue till 6:00 P.M.
Approximately 1,600 candidates are in the fray to contest the 95 Lok Sabha seats in the 11 states and 1 union territory.
In all the Parliamentary constituencies, a total of 15.79 crore voters are eligible to vote in the Lok Sabha elections.
The State contesting the Lok Sabha elections in the 2nd phase are :
Vellore in Tamil Nadu and Tripura East in Tripura are the constituencies where the Election Commission of India (ECI) cancelled and postponed the elections respectively.
In Vellore, due to bribery to voters, the ECI announced the cancellation of the Lok Sabha elections in the constituency, following which, Tamil Nadu will contest for 38 Lok Sabha seats, instead of all 39 seats.
In Tripura, the ECI postponed the Lok Sabha elections to the 23rd of April, which is the scheduled date for the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and appealed to the voters to exercise their franchise and vote.

The Lok Sabha elections are divided into 7 phases, scheduled on the 11th of April, 18th of April, 23rd of April, 29th of April, 6th of May, 12th of May and the 19th of May.
On the 11th of April, a total of 20 states contested the 1st phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC.)
The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
