After a lot of criticism on reopening of schools and educational institutions, the Telangana Education Department took a crucial decision.

According to sources, on the 25th of June, the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TBIE) decided to conduct offline classes on alternate days. The classes for Intermediate first and second year would begin from the 1st of July, as per the announcement of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government.

In addition, the TBIE also announced a reduction of the syllabus for Intermediate second year students to 70 %. The decision was taken for the academic year 2021-2022 due to the ongoing pandemic of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.)

The TBIE issued a circular regarding the same, which read, “Since there is an uncertainty about the number of working days, 70% of the syllabus may be continued for teaching as well as for Intermediate Public Examination (lPE-2022) for the time being until there is clarity from the Government or (the) CBSE.”

Meanwhile, speaking of the online classes, which may continue despite alternate day physical classee, the BIE asked the colleges and teachers to use technology and social media platforms for effective teaching. The decision to continue online classes on alternate days was taken to maintain 220 working days.

It gave suggestions like to create several subject wise WhatsApp groups of teachers and students for clear understanding.

They asked teachers to be active in these groups and try to teach in a way, where students also show their participation.

Considering the COVID-19 situation, the mandatory attendance of 75% would not be insisted for the academic year 2021-2022.

It is to be noted, the TBIE asked all the State colleges and educational institutions to follow all the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of COVID-19 on physical distance, face masks and sanitisation in the college and among students.

Stay tuned for further updates.
