Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) special court has extended the custody of BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha by three more days. Kavitha, faces allegations of involvement in Delhi Liquor Scam amounting to Rs. 292 crores.
The ED has asserted that Kavitha holds a significant stake in the corruption scandal, which has rocked the nation. It is alleged that her nephew, Meka Sharan, played a role in facilitating the transfer of funds.
Kavitha’s arrest on March 15 in Hyderabad has sent shockwaves through the political landscape.
The ED, seeking to further probe the matter, requested five days of custody. However, Magistrate Kaveri Bhaveja on Saturday granted three days, directing authorities to present Kavitha before the court on March 26.
In response to her arrest, Kavitha has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, asserting that her detention is politically motivated.
She maintains that the ED’s line of questioning mirrors previous interrogations she underwent a year ago, suggesting a lack of new evidence or charges.
The extension of Kavitha’s custody underscores the gravity of the allegations leveled against her and the complexity of the ongoing investigation.
