Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the 5th of December, announced a contest for students who are going to write board examinations in 2020.

While urging students to be stress free while preparing for the exams, Mr. Modi announced a competition for students between class IX and class XII across India.

Mr. Modi took to his Twitter handle and posted a tweet which read, “Exams are approaching and so is Pariksha Pe Charcha. Let us keep working together to ensure stress free examinations.”

This year, mygov.in is hosting the contest and the selected students would get a chance to be a part of the 2020 Pariksha Pe Charcha event.  The selected candidates would get a chance to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and interact with him about the Indian education system and examinations.

Interested candidates need to write an article about any of the five topics mentioned below:

  1. Gratitude is great: Write a short writeup on the people who you think have played an important role in your academic journey so far. Also, mention what they do and why you are grateful to them.
  2. Your future depends on your aspirations: What are the goals you have set for yourself in the future? What is it that you want to pursue as a career and why?
  3. Examining exams: Do you think our examination system helps in evaluating the true potential of students? Share your suggestions for how an ideal examination system should be.
  4. Our duties, your take: Our Constitution emphasises upon duties as much as it does on rights. While we need to be aware and alert about our rights, we should also treat our duties similarly. What are the duties that people can inculcate in their daily lives and how? Write and inspire everyone to become more dutiful citizens.
  5. Balance is beneficial: A student’s life is not just about books and studies. It is also about extra-curricular activities, hobbies, sports and more. What are these activities that you do apart from studies? How do you maintain a balance between all of these?

To participate, all the interested students need to do is log on to innovate.mygov.in/ppc-2020, click on the ‘Participate’ tab and submit an essay of a minimum of 500 characters and a maximum of 1,500 characters about any of the aforementioned topics.

The winners of the contest would be declared before the Pariksha Pe Charcha 2020 event, scheduled in January 2020.

Recently, the Modi Government announced a similar contest for kids across India prior to the launch of Chandrayaan 2 to create awareness about Indian space missions.  The winners of the Chandrayaan 2 contest were awarded an opportunity to witness the launch of Chandrayaan 2 with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Andhra Pradesh.

Pariksha Pe Charcha is a one of a kind programme which not only gives a chance to the students preparing for board exams to relieve some stress, but also an opportunity to meet the Prime Minister of India.

The 2020 Pariksha Pe Charcha competition would be the third edition of the interactive programme, which started in 2018.
