75 years for Tom and Jerry: Your favorite childhood duo are turning 75 today and they still look good and strong for guys pushing past their 70’s. They may not look like it but those guys have been playing cat and mouse game since 1940’s.
These guys are back again in boomerang channel in a series of original adventures. When they made their debut in February 1940 short Puss Gets the Boot, they were called Jasper and Jinx and only became Tom and Jerry after Hanna-Barbera offered studio employees a $50 prize to come up with the best name.
“It gives us a new tool box,” says Bastian, Warner Bros. animation VP . “We have access to magic; with the lab we have access to all kinds of creative super powers or inventions.”
You might have grown out of your childhood, but you never grow out of them guys. Guess what they haven’t done with you either. There are still plenty adventures to have, stories to share and many laughters to crack.
